I CAN KNOW THE SCRIPTURES ARE TRUE

My favorite scripture is about Joseph Smith getting the Book of Mormon. When Joseph Smith was 14 years old, he wanted to know what church was true. One day, Joseph read James chapter 1 verse 5 in the Bible.

It says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.” Joseph needed to know what church was right, so he decided to ask God.

One morning, Joseph Smith went to the woods to pray, and there he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They told him that none of the churches were true.

Years later, the angel Moroni came to Joseph1 and told him about a book that was written on gold plates. Joseph was to translate these plates into English. Those gold plates are the Book of Mormon.

I like this story because it teaches me:

      1. If you have a question, you look in the scriptures, just like Joseph Smith did.
      2. The second thing I learned is that when you read the scriptures they answer your question. When Joseph Smith read the scriptures, he was told to pray.
      3. Last, I learned that the Book of Mormon is important. Joseph Smith worked hard to translate the Book of Mormon so we could read it, and learn about Jesus and God.

When I read the scriptures, I feel good inside. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I believe what the scriptures say. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
